Community Traffic – navigation without traffic jams
- "Astounding Community Traffic technology" – innovation on a global scale. It was developed by scientists from NaviExpert. Due to this technology NaviExpert navigation system allows for avoiding traffic jams. Community Traffic is a unique system of analysis of actual road traffic – allowing for specifying the most frequented and jammed roads and indicating sections where vehicles move unobstructed.
This unique technology was developed by NaviExpert only. It is based on collecting road traffic data directly from system users. NaviExpert users’ mobile phones once in a while send data of passage time of particular road sections to system server. System server collects and processes data from thousands of users. On this basis the system “learns” actual driving speeds in particular sections depending on the time of day and week. Thus, system “knows” where and when traffic jams typically appear and where and when the traffic is unobstructed. Data so collected may be illustrated with so-called speed maps.
Every driver knows that not every main road allows for equally fast driving, and that not always you can drive faster on the main road than on the local one. It is however assumed by regular navigation systems. Only NaviExpert uses actual data to draw a route providing the fastest access to destination on a given day and time. NaviExpert can choose shortcuts familiar only to local experts, e.g. taxi drivers perfectly familiar with a given city/region. In other case NaviExpert will choose a longer main road, avoiding jammed sections. As a result, NaviExpert user reaches destination 10-50% faster in comparison to regular navigation.
Due to Community Traffic indications, NaviExpert users may travel without traffic jams.

Advantage of NaviExpert system over traditional GPS navigation is possible due to technology applying information on average driving speed – accessing the system from the users. Additionally, drivers can verify on- line informations about roadworks and obstacles collected by the system operator. Therefore, routes drawn by the system are the fastest, as they avoid typical traffic jams and closed sections.

Speed maps
Data collected in Community Traffic may be illustrated with so-called speed maps. E.g. the maps below present average driving speed in Warsaw around 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. For their clarity, only driving speed on main roads was presented. It is for instance visible that it is much more difficult to cross Wisła river in the morning from Praga district to the left bank (city center) than in the opposite direction. Although around 4 p.m. most roads in the centre are jammed, there are section where driving is less obstructed, which can be used by NaviExpert. Similar data are collected all over Poland on roads of all categories.
