After 5 days of struggle and passing 10 long routes in Warsaw NE due to Community Traffic reached destination as first with time 205 min, defeating TomTom XL by 22 min (11%) and Automapa 5.1.1 by 56 minutes (27%) as well as Nokia Maps by 71 minutes (35%).

Test of Antyradio and Chip magazine was probably the first objective navigation test in Poland, based on driving time measurement and not on subjective opinions. Four navigation systems were tested: TomTom XL – device dedicated to navigation, NE on Sony Ericsson C702, Nokia Maps one Nokia N95 and Automapa on HTC P3470.

Every day four drivers had to get from a starting point to target point, driving through one intermediate point, directed by indications of one of the navigation systems. The winner was supposed to be the system which would guide the fastest to the target point. Journalists from Chip lab took care of objective conduct of the test. Every day each driver used a different system.

The test was transmitted in real time and commented on Antyradio, among others in the program Antymotolista of Joanna (test participant) and Włodzimierz Zientarski.

Although on the first day TomTom won with the advantage of 1 minute over NE, we were certain that due to Community Traffic, in final fight we will succeed. Indeed, next days proved that each driver using NE got to target points the fastest.

We must admit that we were surprised by our advantage over Automapa (27%) and Nokia Maps (35%). On the basis of our own numerous tests we rather expected differences approaching 10-20%. It probably results from the fact that test routes were selected by voting Antyradio listeners and Chip magazine readers, who preferred more difficult routes, for which selection of the way was not equivocal. Indeed no two navigation systems took exactly the same route on any day.

We congratulate TomTom on taking second place, even more so with regard to the fact that after three days loss of TomTom XL was minimal.
